As far as the breast augmentation surgery itself, there is a risk of infection, bleeding/bruising, breast asymmetry, capsular contracture and change in your nipple sensation.  There are other risks of breast implant surgery as well.  All of these potential complications including their incidence and treatment - will be discussed in detail during your breast implant consultation with Dr. Greenwald.  Every precaution is taken by Dr. Greenwald and his staff to minimize complications

Combined silicone gel breast augmentation and tummy tuck

There is no question that pregnancy can take a toll on a woman’s body.  The majority of my practice is composed of women who have had children and are seeking to restore their breasts and bodies back to the way they were prior to children.   Combining breast enhancement surgery (breast augmentation or breast lift) with a body contouring procedure such as liposuction or tummy tuck is becoming increasingly popular.  The combination is so popular that it is often referred to as a “Mommy Makeover”.

How often should I have post-op check ups with my doctor?

I tend to see patients within one week of any procedure, again at three weeks and then approximately three months after their procedure. The first two visits are really just to reassure the patient and the three month visit is to get a good look at the results once most of the swelling has resolved.

Example of Silicone Breast Implant

Silicone Breast implants have been approved for general usage (i.e. cosmetic breast augmentation) for nearly three years.  I am currently performing a large number of Westchester County breast augmentation procedures with cohesive silicone gel breast implants.  Silicone gel implants offer some benefits when compared with saline implants.

After more than ten years of controversy and study, the FDA approved silicone gel breast implants for general usage in November, 2006. They are now available to all women over the age of 22.  The implants can be used for both reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery.  In many situations, silicone implants have significant advantages over saline implants.  They tend to feel more natural than then saline devices.  Patients who have had saline implants exchanged for the same size silicone device often state the the silicone device feels lighter (in truth, they weight the same).  Silicone devices may often show less rippling than a saline implant and are therefore a particularly good choice for very thin women.
